About Healthy Garlic-Roasted Vegetables
Today’s topic is veggies.
Ina Garten, the Barefoot Contessa, is one of my favorite Food Network chefs.
She has an incredible garden and cooks straight from the source.
There’s something wonderful about fresh veggies and herbs from your own garden.
The veggies are just more flavorful.
Broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms, peppers, and, of course, garlic, which makes everything better, are some of my favorites.
And I considered the health benefits of each of them, as well as why this combination is so effective.
Broccoli has a lot of health advantages, which I learned when researching for my book Natural Healing Foods.
In 2000, the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition released a research that highlighted the foods most likely to prevent colon cancer, and broccoli was the most prominent.
There’s also cauliflower.
Did you know that it’s really the flower of the plant, not a vegetable?
However, this flower, which is high in Vitamin C, has been discovered to be beneficial in the fight against cancer.
Mushrooms also boost your immune system.
According to research conducted at Kansai Medical University in Osaka, Japan, the mushroom chemical AHCC plays an important function in maintaining a healthy immune system.
And that mushrooms may minimize our need for antibiotics while also lowering our rate of bacterial resistance, making it easier to battle illness.
So, how about the peppers?
This is fantastic news.
Peppers may be able to assist you in losing weight.
Capsinoids, a chemical found in sweet peppers, were examined on a group of 12 young men by the Exercise Metabolism Research Group at McMaster University in Ontario.
Half of the participants received a placebo, while the other half received the capsinoid.
After 90 minutes of fairly strenuous cycling, the capsinoid group had significantly more energy than the placebo group.
They came to the conclusion that sweet peppers may have contributed to their enhanced energy and may be employed as a weight-loss tool.
As we examine garlic, the good news continues.
Because of its capacity to combat sickness, garlic has been dubbed “Russian penicillin.”
9 patients with severe hypertension were given 2400 mg of allicin, a chemical found in garlic, in a trial conducted at the Clinical Research Center in New Orleans.
The end outcome was outstanding.
Their seated blood pressure was reduced after 5 hours of ingesting the garlic and remained stable for many hours, with no negative effects.
So, with all of this health studies in mind, why not mix all of these wonderful veggies into one dish?
Add in some heart-healthy olive oil, and you’ve got yourself a tasty side dish that your kids could even like.
